Here's a fun one. The man who founded Hairetic started his career at Procter & Gamble, and his actual job was selling Head & Shoulders to Tesco. Now he runs his own small British anti-dandruff brand, with three products in bottles covered in loud, colourful art.
Is Hairetic vegan and cruelty free?
Yes to both. It's certified by The Vegan Society and by Cruelty Free International. Bottles are 100% recycled Prevented Ocean Plastic, which is plastic collected from coastal communities at risk of ocean pollution, and 1% of their turnover goes to environmental causes through 1% for the Planet.
What's actually in it?
All three products share the same base: organic aloe vera to soothe the scalp, rosemary, willow bark and nettle extracts, and panthenol and glycerin for the hair. Hairetic say the range is 99% natural origin, with no silicones, colours, artificial fragrance, parabens or SLS.
And there's a real antifungal in there. The Sensitive Shampoo and the 2-in-1 both use piroctone olamine, which is the same active as the Philip Kingsley toner in my own routine (and the part that goes after Malassezia). If you've got seb derm, read the conditioner's ingredient list before you buy, because it has linseed, argan and coconut oils in it.
